About Columbia County Criminal History

Columbia County criminal records are divided among offices in Hudson and statewide systems in New York. The Sheriff maintains its own reports and custody information, court clerks hold case files, and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) maintains fingerprint-supported histories. The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the New York State Sex Offender Registry have separate roles. This site organizes those official routes so readers can identify the office, portal, address, or telephone line suited to the record they need.

Why We Built This Site

New York does not place every criminal-history record in one public database. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office creates and keeps sheriff reports and local custody records. Columbia County Court, Hudson City Court, and the Town and Village Justice Courts maintain their own charge, calendar, and disposition files. DCJS permits a person to review their own fingerprint-based record but does not offer the public another person's repository rap sheet. Public court searches, state correctional records, and registry entries each use different systems. We bring those official contacts, request methods, access limits, and search choices together without treating the records as interchangeable.

This is a privately operated reference site, not part of Columbia County or New York government. It has no connection to a court, sheriff, police department, DCJS, or any other public agency. Those limits mean:

  • We cannot submit FOIL requests, record-sealing papers, or other forms for a visitor
  • We do not certify court papers, rap sheets, or criminal-history documents
  • We cannot interpret a charge, warrant, conviction, or sealing rule as legal advice
  • We cannot promise that an agency's fees, hours, contacts, or procedures have not changed

Only the office that maintains a record, such as the Sheriff, the proper court clerk, or DCJS, can issue its official copy. This site can identify that office but cannot supply the document.
