NO FCRA USE. Columbia County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with a local, New York, or federal government agency. This site and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site helps readers locate official criminal-record resources in Columbia County, New York. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.
1. What This Website Is
This is a private reference site with no governmental relationship. It does not store official records, conduct government background checks, retrieve case files, or submit forms on a visitor's behalf.
Its function is to identify resources maintained by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the courts hearing local criminal matters, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect visitors to independently operated research tools.
2. Rules for Using This Site
Each user agrees not to:
- Use the site in violation of federal, New York, or local law
- Threaten, stalk, or harass another person with information found here
- Rely on site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
- Attempt unauthorized entry into any site system
- Deploy a scraper, bot, or other automated collection tool against these pages
- Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
No one may use information from this site or a linked service to stalk, intimidate, harass, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against another person. New York gives this rule special weight for New York State Sex Offender Registry data. Correction Law §168-q provides penalties for specified unauthorized use. Registry information supports lawful public-safety awareness. It is not permission for vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
Columbia County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produces no credit report, background check, or consumer report. Its advertising partners are not presented as services for applicant screening, rental review, insurance pricing, or credit evaluation. Site or linked-tool data may not be used to:
- Make a hiring or termination decision
- Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
- Set an insurance premium or assess creditworthiness
- Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
- Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA
A person who needs a legally compliant screening report must use the proper official process or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA. DCJS repository records are governed by Executive Law §837 and 9 NYCRR Part 6050, and DCJS does not offer a general-public search for another person's rap sheet.
5. No Legal Advice
Site material is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Columbia County charge, conviction, warrant, or New York record-sealing law affects a particular person. Consult a New York attorney for advice about an individual matter.
6. No Warranties
All site content is provided "as is." We make no promise that:
- Information will always be complete, accurate, or current
- Service will remain available without interruption
- Every page will be free from errors, defects, or security weaknesses
- An outside search provider will return complete or correct results
Criminal records can change when charges are filed, resolved, corrected, or sealed. Updates may lag, and omissions can occur. No statement here is an official representation by a Columbia County court, the Sheriff's Office, DCJS, or another government agency.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
Links may lead to the Sheriff's Office, New York court systems, public agencies, legal-aid organizations, and independent search services. We do not control an external site's content, privacy practices, fees, or availability. Review that site's own terms before using it.
8. Intellectual Property
