For one court and a defined date range, the UCS-LRS2 Local Criminal Record Search Request provides a clerk-based fallback. It asks for the court, requester contacts, subject's exact name and date of birth, and the period to search. The fee is $5 for each two-year period or part of a period. Each alias or name variation is a separate search. A no-record certificate applies only to the selected court, dates, and exact identifiers. It does not rule out another court, another spelling, a sealed record, or a case outside the chosen range.
What a Criminal Case File Contains
The Columbia County criminal case file documents prosecution, not just arrest. It may show how each accusation changed from the first filed paper through plea, trial, dismissal, or sentence. Access Rules for Case Records
New York court access and agency access follow different rules. Judiciary Law section 255 directs clerks of courts of record to search and certify files on a lawful request and fee, subject to restrictions. New York FOIL applies to agency records, but it does not override court sealing or another confidentiality law. A police FOIL response therefore cannot open a sealed Columbia County criminal case.
